The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide for those who have too little.

You Will Never Cease to Grow by Learning

Cornerstone Christian Academy is a co-educational, independent school for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, located in Kingsessing, one of the most disadvantaged neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Founded in 1988 by Dr. Tony Campolo (speaker, author, and college professor) and Jim Sweet (a Philadelphia attorney), 20 years later their mission remains: to educate children in an environment that provides the highest standards for academic achievement and personal development. The program provides a safe haven for neighborhood children during the summer, opportunities for academic enrichment and a nurturing environment in which they can develop wholesome relationships with peers and adults. The children participate in sports, games, field trips, learn skills and ultimately produce and perform in a musical at the end of the summer. The Legacy Foundation's grant provided funding for their J Rock Summer Camp Program, which included arts and crafts supplies, field trip expenses, t-shirts for the campers and other expenses related to their musical production. The associates of Legacy Advisors also had the opportunity to volunteer their time and talents by visiting the camp and working with the children on various projects, in particular helping them prepare for their musical performance. Backpacks for Success

City Team Ministries, located in Chester, PA, is a very special ministry supporting the poor and homeless throughout the Delaware Valley. It started in 1957 in San Jose, CA, and has since become a national organization providing hot meals, safe shelter, emergency food boxes and clothing for hundreds of thousands of low income families in need. They also offer a recovery program for men with drug and alcohol problems. Mothers with at-risk young children stop by every Wednesday afternoon to receive diapers, formula and other baby items. Many lives have been transformed and given hope that real change is possible. The Legacy Foundation provided a grant for City Team Ministries' Backpacks for Success program, benefiting over 2200 students from families in need of assistance. These special students were provided with their very own backpack filled with school supplies for the upcoming school year. Often, many of these children go to school with nothing and receiving these backpacks surely made them feel confident. Legacy associates also had the opportunity to volunteer their time and helped to fill these backpacks with all the supplies the students needed for a happier and productive school year, eliminating the stress and financial burden on their parents. Give a Little, Get Back More

During the holiday season, the Legacy Foundation provided an additional grant to City Team Ministries for their annual Adopt-a-Family program. There were over 2,500 children from low-income families in the Philadelphia area that were in need in 2010. The purpose of the program was to provide these children and their families with healthy food, toys, gifts, and other essentials in time for Christmas. These simple gifts bring hope to these families and children who often go without basic necessities. Each child made a wish list and was excited that the Legacy Foundation's grant helped make their wishes come true during the holiday season. On Angel's Wings

Angel Flight East was founded in 1992 and is a nonprofit organization comprised of volunteer pilots, ground volunteers and a small staff. The mission of Angel Flight East is to provide free air transportation to qualified patients and their families by arranging flights to distant medical facilities, delivering supplies to disaster areas and reuniting families during desperate times. These volunteer pilots, using their own planes, fly patients to the medical facilities needed for their evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of their medical conditions free of charge. With more than 425 volunteer pilots, based in 22 states, over 750 missions were coordinated in 2009 alone. The Legacy Foundation provided a grant to their 20th Wings and Wheels Event held Saturday, September 11th, 2010 in Blue Bell, PA. It was a community event filled with entertainment, music, food, children's activities, antique cars, vintage aircrafts and model trains. Our grant provided the children's activities which included the Franklin Institute's traveling science show, beanie bounce, face painting and an amusement ride, the Jumpin' Jet. Many Legacy associates and their families attended the event and a great time was had by all. For more information, please visit their website at www.angelflighteast.org.

Secret Santa Delivers Joy and Hope

CBC, The Committee to Benefit the Children, was established in 1980 as a volunteer based charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and their families who face cancer, leukemia and serious blood disorders. CBC serves the patients and families who are treated at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, providing direct financial assistance to specific families in need with non-medical, essential expenses which are not covered by other agencies or insurance. The Legacy Foundation provided CBC with a grant for their Secret Santa Project, providing grocery cards to help 53 adopted families in the program enjoy and have a wonderful holiday meal. In addition to the grocery cards, the Secret Santa program provided these families, including the patient, their siblings and parents, with toys, gifts and turkeys. On Christmas Eve, volunteers along with Santa Claus and his elves, delivered all the goodies to these very special families providing them with a holiday that they will remember for a very long time.
